9/27/2023 0 Comments Meta stock crashThe company’s second-quarter financial results were dismal, with reported revenue of $452m, down from $695m in the first quarter. According to the company: “The new ticker symbol aligns with the company’s rebranding from Facebook to Meta.” In May 2022, Meta Platforms announced it was changing its ticker symbol to ‘META’, replacing the previous ticker ‘FB’ which had been used since the company’s initial public offering ( IPO) in 2012. This was the first time that such a deceleration had occurred in many years, with shares falling more than 26%. The decline accelerated in November and peaked in February 2022 after management made downbeat comments about the company’s future growth, and after Meta Platforms reported a slight decline in Facebook’s daily active users (DAU) in Q4 2021. Meta Platform’s downtrend began in September 2021 when the pandemic tailwind that had lifted the business’s performance faded on the back of mass vaccinations. What should this social media stock expect, considering the current environment and the management’s plans to reshape its business model? In this article, we analyse the latest Meta Platforms stock news along with its price action and fundamentals to outline plausible META stock projections for 2022 and beyond. Meanwhile, macroeconomic conditions in the US have worsened amid a high inflation rate of 8.2% which has prompted a risk-off attitude among market participants. Meta Platforms, formerly known as Facebook, has cited multiple headwinds that could negatively affect the business’s financial performance in the near term, including changes to Apple’s iOS privacy features and increased competition from other platforms such as TikTok and Snapchat. The stock’s losses have mirrored those of the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 ( US100) index, with confidence in tech markets having plummeted and Meta’s drastic pivot toward the metaverse having concerned shareholders. As of 2 November 2022, stock is changing hands at $92.77. After a mass sell-off in late October, stock sank 24% to the lowest price since 2016. In the past week purchases of large-cap tech have skyrocketed while speculative assets have seen very little demand. Investors seem to be becoming highly selective after the sector's record-breaking run in recent months.Īccording to research firm Vanda, purchases from retail investors in late 2020 and early 2021 were focused on expensive tech, EVs and so-called "meme" stocks. The disappointment over Meta's earnings and the subsequent stock fall invoked memories of the bursting tech bubble in 2000. Meta reported a decline in daily active users from the previous quarter for the first time as competition with rivals like TikTok, the video sharing platform owned by China's ByteDance, heats up. 3, 2020, while Microsoft lost $177 billion on March 16 in the same year. It was the guidance that spooked people," Jeffress said. "The results, taken in their entirety, were okay. Jeffress pointed to strong or increasing numbers Meta reported for user engagement, advertising and revenue per user. David Jeffress, portfolio manager at Laffer Tengler Investments, said on Thursday the firm is looking to add to its stake in Meta as the stock declines. Some portfolio managers also saw a reason to buy. It was also a popular stock for retail investors, who appeared to be enthusiastically buying the dip. Other institutional investors were also heavy owners. Meta was a widely held stock by various investor groups, including hedge funds, according to recent data, leaving a number of funds potentially exposed by the wipe-out in its shares. Their reports also sent Twitter up 8%, and helped Meta recover 1%. After the market closed, social media platforms Pinterest and Snap posted strong quarterly reports that sent their shares soaring 17% and 52%, respectively, more than reversing losses from earlier in the day.

Went with my friend and we loved the whole experience. From 2005-2009, Erebus held the Guinness World Record for the largest walk-through haunted house. For the scares, I thought Erebus was not too expensive. We’d anticipated long queues and hence opted for the fast pass and it helped. Went with my friend and we loved the whole experience. Truly unique scares and phenomenal actors.Loved the interaction between guests and characters. Great details and very well set up.Audio and visual effects were spot on. Erebus is one of the primordial beings in the Greek creation myth. Scare Factor:įantastic haunt! They actually put you in smaller groups. Erebus, in Greek religion, the god of a dark region of the underworld and the personification of darkness. Next year, I will try a different haunted house in the area in hopes that my experience will not suffer from over-crowding like it did at Erebus. Overall, Erebus was a pretty good experience, but realizing that they made me skip one or more areas certainly put a damper on the fun. Since they had me skip that section, it also makes me wonder what else I missed simply because they were trying to get the crowds through as fast as possible. I was surprised and disappointed when I emerged from the ending of Erebus without going through that area. I thought that sounded quite unique and fun, so I was looking forward to it. When I was looking up information about the attraction, one of the features Erebus advertised the most was their "buried alive" ball area. The major factor that brought my rating of the attraction down was the fact that they had me skip one or more areas of the haunted house, presumably because of how many people were there. The actors in the haunted house did their job excellently, they all stayed in character and seemed very into it. My favorite use of special effects was in the swamp area where they created a realistic looking fog that I had to walk through. The special effects in Erebus were stunningly good and greatly contributed to fun. By the time I walked through the area, I knew what was coming and was not startled whatsoever. Although, it was still a bit annoying when all the people in front of me were triggering the animatronic jump-scares. I did expect it to be crowded after reading some reviews before going, so I was not put off by the long line. Be warned that parking is $5 cash, and if you buy a ticket there it is cash only. However, I did find Erebus to be quite fun to walk through, and the price was reasonable since I went on a weekday. Email Verified Fun, but with some disappointmentįirst, I did not find the attraction that scary simply because I do not scare easily, so others may find it scarier. The quality is there for the props, some of the actors had timing issues, but other than that. Not many places are multiple stories with multiple themed rooms. Email Verified Very detailed and lots to look at.ĭespite the outrageous wait times, the haunt is good. It was crazy fun had a fuckin blast going again next weekend can’t wait to bring the rest of my crew through Scare Factor: Ad long as they're open, I'll be there every year□ Scare Factor: If you like to be scared, this is the place for you. I'm obsessed with all things horror and Halloween and this is my favorite haunted attraction I've been to! This year will be my 5th year in a row going to Erebus. The Changes made from when last time we went (Pre Covid) was good. Which is good, because we were not being sent in with other groups which i hate. Me and my family went last Night 10/13/22.
9/27/2023 0 Comments What is motionA motion to dismiss results in the case being thrown out altogether and no verdict being issued. While a motion for summary judgment and motion to dismiss are often confused with one another, they are not the same thing. If available, a motion for summary judgment can save both sides plenty of time and money. Such a motion can only occur if none of the facts of the case are in dispute, thus all that needs to be decided is a final ruling on the case. This motion asks the judge to make a decision on the case without going to trial. While not always available in all cases, the motion for summary judgment is made before the trial begins. Motion for summary judgmentĪ motion for summary judgment is perhaps the most frequently made motion. Furthermore, a party in a case can request that a vague statement be removed from the record and be replaced with a statement that is more specific and clear. A party may request a motion to strike if the language being removed from the record is redundant, vague, scandalous, immaterial, or impertinent. This motion is usually requested when the record contains information or language that is not admissible evidence. Motion to strikeĪ motion to strike is requested when one of the parties wants something removed from the court record. Of course, motions to compel can also be used when the trial gets underway, such as if a witness refuses to answer a question while testifying, and they are not limited solely to the discovery process. If that motion is granted and the plaintiff still refuses to answer the questions then he or she may face contempt of court charges. For example, if the plaintiff refuses to answer questions in a deposition, the defendant may file a motion to compel the plaintiff to answer those questions. As noted above, motions to compel can be used during the discovery process to ensure that both parties have full access to the facts of the case. When making a motion to compel, the moving party is asking the judge to use the power of the court to essentially force another party to do something that he or she has so far refused to do. Failing to comply with either motion could result in the offending party being held in contempt. Another motion to compel discovery could be used if the party responds to the request for information, but its response is vague or incomplete. If the other party fails to respond to a request for information, for example, then a motion to compel discovery of that information could force that party to provide a response. A number of different motions can be used to ensure that both sides are able to handle the discovery process to the best of their abilities. Both parties can request information from one another to help establish the facts of the case. The discovery process, like its name suggests, is when the prosecution and defense make efforts to discover all the facts of the case. Discovery motionsĭuring the discovery process both parties to a lawsuit or case will collect information and evidence that they can then use to build their case. Additionally, a motion to dismiss may be filed if the defendant waives his or her right to a speedy trial, has been granted immunity or a pardon, or if that defendant had been previously tried for the same offense, which is known as double jeopardy. In some cases, there may even be a legal issue at stake but the statute of limitations has expired, meaning the court can no longer deliver a verdict. This motion helps ensure that disputes that involve no legal issue do not end up wasting the court’s time and resources. The moving party in such a case may concede that the facts of the case are true, but that the case should nonetheless be dismissed because there is no legal issue presented in those facts that the court can rule on. In other words, when a motion to dismiss happens, the moving party is not contesting the facts as presented by the other party, but merely saying that the claim at issue is not a legal one on which the court has any say.Ī motion to dismiss is one of the most important motions to understand in U.S. Motion to dismissĪ motion to dismiss, which is more popularly known as “throwing out” a case, is requested when one side (usually the defendant) contends that the plaintiff’s claim is not one on which the court can rule. While there are lots of different types of legal motions, the ones below tend to stand out for being both very common and very important to individual cases. 9/27/2023 0 Comments Ireal pro for windows phoneNot to mention amazing forScore application and tons of others. And only THIS reason alone is the first and most important to consider (decent and most convenient and suitable screen for this purpose). And if to talk about reading sheet music, they are nothing to do with their horrible 16:9 not big enough screens. But I even didn't consider Android tablets! Because even despite I'm an Android user, I belive that Android tablets just piece of crap. And I should say, I was deciding between iPad Pro 12.9" and Microsoft Surface Book (13.5"). I've read a lot of opinions, I've seen a lot of videos. Last days I was very intensively learning this sphere. I'm a Windows user (PC) and Android user (smartphone). "but I'd say it is so good you should switch from iOS to get it." Huge improvement! Import time is reduced by at least 50% on Android 5 and up.) (Update: From Fakebook version 1.6 there is a highly optimized PDF parser. On the other hand, once the songs are imported paging between them is instantaneous. Importing and indexing a complete PDF Real Book (over 500 pages) may take more than an hour. One drawback is that the initial PDF parsing is rather slow, and there's also a disclaimer on the Fakebook import link site about this. The same can be said about the chord and lyrics editor added in Fakebook Pro version 2.5, it is quick and easy to use.But instead, Fakebook does automatic cropping at import. The lack of zooming or cropping tools may seem limiting at first, as scanned and commercial sheet music often comes with quite wide margins, necessary for paper copies but a waste of screen on a phone or tablet. The excellent search also works independently of source or type and finds anything immediately, whether it's in the title, the composer, the book, a comment or the style. All types of music are created equal and you can mix and match them all in the set lists. In Fakebook the marker and highlighter pens are always available and works in the same way on chord charts, PDF music, ChordPro or OnSong lyrics and photos. For a music reader app, annotation is crucial.Instead of a Band-in-a-Box style playalong, which may be great for practice but often sound cheesy and only works for chord charts, the Fakebook app has links to real performances on Spotify and YouTube.Consistency and simplicity is key, which shows in the way this app works: But none of the less important bells and whistles, which makes the app fast, reliable, and easy to use. I can see chord charts from further away, but have been using lead sheets mostly now, because it is much easier to keep track of proper timing.Fakebook Pro has all the important tools for a gigging musician. Using a K&M iPad holder on a mic boom on a short stand made to fit in my OnStage 2 tier Z stand, have a cable to charge it, just insert it (I don't leave it there), tighten up the holder, power on, works a treat. Thought about a first generation 12" iPad Pro, but the 9" one works just fine when I move it a bit closer to me. Should be possible to find a good used/refurbished iPad 3 (or later - need Bluetooth 4 for most of the current pedals for page turning) at a reasonable price - by far the easiest way for anyone who is already using OnSong and familiar with its use. Back it up to iCloud Files or Dropbox, then load the other two from the backup. The iPad 3 is quite sufficiently fast to handle the app well (I still have Module and a few other music apps on it, 32GB model, with plenty of space. The oldest is an iPad 3 (30-pin connector), which now is dedicated to use as music sheet viewer for my playing in church praise band. I have three iPads, it is loaded on all three. I've built a few songs using the text based input, but usually use PDF files, since that is what CCLI supplies. I'm using it in conjunction with CCLI and Ashampoo PDF Pro 2 (which allows very substantial editing on PDF files, even turning jpg images into PDF). They do have "console" add-in which allows viewing and adding songs from a web browser running on PC, Mac, probably Linux. According to their site, OnSong is working (somewhat slowly) on a Mac version, no mention of a PC version. 9/27/2023 0 Comments Downy feathers“We were a little surprised to see filoplumes on the penguin body,” says Williams. They’re so synonymous with flight that some sources say that filoplumes don’t exist on penguins, ostriches, and other flightless birds. These sit at the base of flight feathers and supposedly sense organs, which tell flying birds when their plumes have become displaced. These are tiny structures, less than a centimeter long, with a naked shaft that ends in a splay of fine filaments. Williams also found a third category of feather-filoplumes-that no one had mentioned at all. The plumules, which are far more numerous, were first mentioned a century ago and have been almost entirely ignored since then. Despite several attempts to model the insulating powers of penguin skin, every study has ascribed those powers wholly to the afterfeathers. Williams found plenty of afterfeathers on her birds, but also four times as many plumules-a separate type of downy feather that attaches directly to the skin. Many studies assume that emperor penguins insulate themselves from the bitter cold of Antarctica’s waters using afterfeathers-small downy plumes that are attached to their main feathers. Second, Williams found certain types of feathers that she wasn’t expecting. The white-throated dipper, a small Eurasian bird that forages in cold mountain streams, has plumage that’s six times more dense. That’s nowhere near the record for birds. By carefully plucking, counting, and describing the feathers on these specimens, Williams and her colleagues found several surprises.įirst, these birds had a maximum of nine feathers per square centimere-a lower density than any of the earlier reports suggested. The bodies in question belonged to emperors that had died of natural causes in 20, and had been stored in a freezer ever since. “Since we had access to several penguin bodies, we decided to find out for ourselves,” says Williams. They might as well have come up with random numbers. Various scientific papers claimed that penguins had anywhere from 11 to 46 feathers per square centimetre, and none of them-none-described any methods or cited any sources behind these estimates. When Cassondra Williams from University of California, Irvine, first started looking into penguin feathers, she was shocked to see how many unsubstantiated statements there were, and not just on websites. This “fact” crops up on Wikipedia and a host of other websites, and seems to trace to a statement made in a 2004 National Geographic news story. Emperor penguins reputedly have the highest feather density of any bird, with around 100 feathers per square inch of skin (15 per square centimeter). |
